The Perfect Baby Shower

On October 9th Frost Me Sweet had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for our owner put on by her sister and sister-in-law. This baby has been in the making for a long time now (see more of their story at the end of this post), and is being excitedly welcomed by not only her parents and family, but the whole staff of FMS. Dubbed the “Frost Me Baby” we went all out on her shower, and dare we say it was the most beautiful baby shower to ever have been. Take a look for yourself!

The tables were set up beautifully with ivory linen, gold utensils, rose linen napkins, and gold trimmed plates with a gold glitter champagne flute. On each spot was a mini champagne bottle and a gold chocolate.

(Plates and champagne flutes were purchased from Target, gold utensils were purchased from Hobby Lobby)

Look how cute these champagne bottles are!;

The champagne labels were purchased from Studio B Labels etsy shop;

The cake table was definitely the highlight- of course being as Frost Me Sweet is known for their desserts, and this being a shower for the owner and original cake maker of FMS, you know she went all out! She made all 3 of the cakes and all the other desserts herself, and they turned out beautifully!

The side cakes were just darling and topped with sugar flowers, macarons, and chocolate dipped strawberries

The fresh flowers everywhere were absolutely stunning as well. The table arrangements, window arrangements, and wreaths were all done by “Flowers By Kim” (http://www.flowersbykim.net/) who did a stunning job making Megan’s dream of a garden shower a reality; indoors and on a rainy day in October. Take a look at these gorgeous shots, and see the table pieces on the dessert table above, just stunning!

There was also food of course, a great spread made by Frost Me Sweet of yummy snacks and hors d’oeuvres.  The shower started at 4:30pm, but there was plenty of food to hold everyone over through dinner I am sure!

The Baked Brie with blackberry preserves was amazing and by far one of the favorites!

Oh yes, and how could I forget to mention the “Mom-osa” Bar?!

The “Mom-osa” bar was outfitted with 5 different mixers, including Frost Me Sweet’s famous “Lavender Lemonade” as well as some other delicious juices and lots of yummy prosecco. There were also 2 delicious non-alcoholic juice options available for those who opted for them.

Notice the gorgeous draping behind the food, “Mom-osa” bar, and the cake table? That beautiful job was done by the amazing ladies at SASH and really was what made the whole ambiance that of a fairy tale from the moment you walked in.

Congratulations to you, we can’t wait to see your precious baby girl!

Interested in more of the Mom’s story? Here is a little bit she shared;

My husband and I have not been particularly public about this over 7 year journey, as it has been a difficult one riddled with infertility, failed treatments and procedures, being told by the best fertility Dr’s in the Northwest that I would never be able to conceive. There have been the highs of being picked as adoptive parents and the months of excitement and preparation, only to be hit by the deep saddening blow of having them change their mind about adopting her at the last minute. There were months I couldn’t even bring myself to open the door to this nursery. And now, by the biggest blessing and through the power of love, it all seems to have led with reason to this; we are welcoming our miracle baby girl, truly the biggest blessing we could ever have, to be a family ❤️. If you are going through this journey my heart is with you, know that there can be light at the end of it, that love will prevail.

Frances & Roberto

11.22.2014

We had the pleasure of doing Frances & Roberto’s wedding this past weekend. Frances had chose INSPIRE as their venue. INSPIRE is a new venue in the Broadmoor Mall off of Road 100. Opened by the D&Z team they had pulled out all the stops for their wedding. Frances had decided on a dessert table, with 2 cakes as the main focus, as well as 10 different flavors of cupcakes, some petite fours, pecan bars, and lemon bars. Next time I promise to get more venue pictures so you can see how beautiful INSPIRE is. Here are some pictures of her dessert table;

Dreaming of the perfect Wedding Cake…for 25 years

We have had the honor of having Kathy & Dave visit us weekly since about a month after FMS opened. Dave & Kathy are amazing, loving, and very kind people who over the years have transitioned from customers to friends of all here at FMS. A year or so ago Kathy told me of her wedding experience with her wedding cake. She had dreamed up a gorgeous wedding cake & went to a local cakery to have it made. Excitement built over the next few months as she waited to see how her dream cake would look in real life. The day came & Kathy walked into the reception to see her dream cake and….dream it was not. More like  a nightmare it was not what Kathy had wanted, not even the same colors. Dave, being the sweet Groom trying to diffuse the problem with humor, went out and bought some twinkies, stacked them up, and made her a new “wedding cake”. Humorous as it was, Kathy still didn’t get her wedding cake.

Fast forward 25 years to the present day. Dave & Kathy would celebrate their 25th Anniversary on May 18, 2013. In March Kathy & I sat down & discussed her dream wedding cake. I felt a great deal of honor (or was it pressure?) that I would get to make the “dream” cake for Kathy that she had been dreaming of for 25 years. We discussed designs, flowers, colors, and sizing. I was nervous after we spoke as she had brought me a Sylvia Winestock cake & told me “this is almost exactly the cake”. If you do not know of Sylvia Winestock, then the caption above the cake “The Queen of Flowers” describes it all. I can do flowers, but I would never call myself the queen of them!

I spent the few weeks prior to the Big Day studying up on flower techniques. Kathy had enjoyed the look of cabbage roses, spring flowers in peaches, lavenders, & creams. As the day approached I became increasingly more nervous. My first few flowers turned out less than ideal. After a bit of a warm up I was able to channel my inner Sylvia Winestock & get some really nice flowers done.

The day came and we were so pleased to be able to provide Kathy with her dream wedding cake. Here is a picture of the Love Birds, and their beautiful cake!
